From Government Service to Community Advocacy
Patricia devoted 35 plus years to the federal government, rising from an entry-level employee to Human Resources/Personnel Management. Her natural talent for event planning led her to organize conferences and events across the country, a role she relished for the opportunity to explore new places and meet diverse people. Upon retiring at 60, Patricia focused on nurturing her emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being.
A Passion for Fitness and Senior Advocacy
In retirement, Patricia became a certified Zumba and Zumba Gold instructor, driven by her desire to stay active and inspire others. A mix-up led her to enroll in a Certified Personal Trainer's course instead of an Aerobics course, but true to her nature, she embraced the challenge and earned her certification as a Personal Trainer. Now, Patricia’s Zumba classes, particularly those for seniors, are so popular that they have continuous waiting lists. She primarily instructs classes in Prince George’s County, MD, where she finds innovative ways to encourage and support her students.
Patricia’s advocacy for seniors extends beyond fitness. She provides companionship, helps them navigate healthcare systems, and advocates for their needs. Inspired by her father’s battle with a rare blood disease and her mother’s long struggle with Alzheimer's, Patricia has dedicated herself to improving the quality of life for seniors. She’s worked tirelessly to ensure they receive timely and respectful care, a mission sparked by witnessing the often frustrating experiences her mother endured.
